Familiar to criticism, the Indianapolis Colts aren't deterred by talk amongst "experts" and nfl.com journalists saying teams like the San Diego Chargers and Baltimore Ravens will give the favored Colts a run for their money in the AFC before the big show but many Colts' fans are doubting the validity of those claims to say Phillip Rivers is no match for Manning and his crew.

The increasingly strong Ravens do pose a good threat with newly attained Anquan Boldin from the Arizona Cardinals and now retired Kurt Warner, in addition to Dante Stallworth back from a commissioner season suspension and new to the Ravens, and they also have their already strong lineup and improved Joe Flacco to back them up but Peyton Manning has his own force with the best rookies ever seen in the NFL, all combined in one starting lineup, back for a second year with Super Bowl experience, ready for another straight win season to the big show, giving the league's best ever and 4-time MVP quarterback another Lombardi win to go with with his second record breaking contract to carry through the final years of his career.

The Colts will test their strength and face another judgment day this season, but this year it will be in Foxborough, Massachusetts, aka home of the New England Patriots, the number two team of the decade closely behind the Colts and you can bet Bill Belichick won't be making the same dumb mistake that cost his team last year at Lucas Oil Stadium. Last year it was the smackdown of the decade as the Colts continued their undefeated season but this year the Colts play their biggest rivals back to back (San Diego and New England) along with two match ups in week 14 and 17 to end the season against the Tennessee Titans before the playoffs the Colts always make. So with an exhausting schedule from week 1 to week 17, can the Colts go another season with wins all the way to the big show and seal the deal for the second time in five years adding to Manning's well deserved notoriety or will the overwhelmingly tough, physical AFC battles keep them back? Indy Blue Pride says they'll be just fine with any challenge.

Kauffman: The Other Orangemen

BY SHAWN KAUFFMAN
Posted on 2/28/2010

It was on a play that fosters so much success in college football. It was on a play that required little use of a quarterback’s throwing arm. It was only the fifth play on the Texas Longhorns’ first drive in the BCS Championship game against the Oklahoma Sooners when the all-time winningest player in NCAA history Colt McCoy got bonked hard from the side, removing all feeling from his throwing arm.

As we know, he would never return and his team would go on to lose 37-21. That would be the last play in his last game of his football career up to that point that the NCAA Quarterback of the Year would ever play.

But he didn’t cry.

“It would be so easy to question why,” he said.

But he doesn’t.

A man of faith, Colt McCoy is one who believes and doesn’t question why things happen when they do. Instead, he chooses to remain positive.

“It’s one of those things that you’ll think about forever. … Disappointing is probably the real word,” McCoy said. “But at the same time, I’ve been raised the right way and you’ve got to find a positive in every situation. I think about that and I think about how I still have a lot of football left to play. I’m confident that my best football is ahead of me and that’s what keeps me going.”

Disappointing. There’s that word that just a couple of weeks ago was tossed around by Peyton Manning an astounding eighteen times during his postgame interview, after being defeated by the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV.

Contrary to McCoy’s situation, Manning’s throwing arm hadn’t failed him. Rather, his eyes had.

The Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback never was able to win a championship at the University of Tennessee. McCoy never was able to at Texas either, even though they both can throw touchdowns as easily as we can throw crumpled pieces of paper in the trashcan, win (almost) every game possible, have excellent leadership qualities both on and off the field, and even both suited up in orange in college. It makes you wonder if we’re seeing another Manning on the verge of rising.

For the game’s sake, I like to think so.

Let’s just hope Colt doesn’t receive postseason woes.

:: The future

Colt McCoy is a fine young man who took his team 12-0 this year and led his team to the title game, a fine man who has received countless awards and holds several Longhorns school records – it should be no wonder he remains positive. Despite nearly having a career-ending injury, McCoy has successfully bounced back, faster then previously hoped for.

At 6′2″, 210 pounds, Colt will be one of the top quarterbacks selected in the draft in April. Experts project him going in the late first round, early second round at worst. His shoulder injury could have league owners cautious.

Not wanting to risk overworking his arm too soon, McCoy’s doctor has advised him not to throw at the NFL Combine this week. He will have to wait to WOW prospects on March 31 at the University of Texas Pro Day.

“My arm feels really good,” he said. “I’m able to do everything they ask me to do. It’s really healing quickly.”

Doing everything they ask him to do won’t be enough if he’s going to be anything like Peyton Manning. He’ll need to study, work-out, and then study some more. Even if it makes his shoulder hurt.

Kauffman: No hatin’ on Peyton

While there may still be some partying going on down in New Orleans, time (and Tiger Woods) has quietly slipped the Saints triumphant Super Bowl XLIV victory into the headline archives and out of our minds.

We will all remember “that play” where Hank Baskett coughed up the onside kick and the game as we know it was never the same again. Garcon dropped a touchdown pass. Cough. Reggie Wayne dropped a game-changing touchdown pass. Cough. When Manning was picked off on his favorite slant route to Wayne, it was over. We all knew it. Destiny would overrule everyone and everything as it always does.

Despite all these mistakes the Colts suffered from, you cannot take anything away from the Saints. At the end of the day, Sean Payton outcoached Caldwell, Brees outplayed Manning, and New Orleans out-cheered Indianapolis – WHO DAT?

With Payton’s gutsy play-calling, he dared and he took chances. Luckily for him, it worked. Many even insist that the Saints played to win while the Colts played not to lose. If that’s true, then that made just enough of the difference.

The onside kick scuffle that involved everybody from both teams that lasted for nearly ten minutes – I think I even saw Colts GM Bill Polian in there one time – was the single greatest game-changing play I’ve ever witnessed in Super Bowl history. For that, my hat goes off to Payton.

Now on to the other Peyton. Peyton Manning played a tremendous game as he always does – probably one of the single greatest-played games by a quarterback in Super Bowl history with 333 passing yards on 31 completions.

Manning knows how to win. The four-time league MVP has led the Colts to seven straight 12-plus win seasons. And if you want to get “technical”, he even has a ring.

Like Dan Marino who never won the big game, Manning is still being compared to Dan “Not the Man”. They both have spectacular stats yet both seem to have trouble winning when it matters most. Manning is .50 in postseason play at 9-9, but make no mistake about it – he went to the Super Bowl and won.

I’m a strong believer in that Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. And it’s not because of his stats either, or the way he continues to get better and better, or the way he just won league MVP for the second year running. It’s not the way he’s a ten-time Pro Bowler, a hilarious actor in his many commercials, or the way he’s a class act from head to toe.

Manning’s hardcore dedication to the game and ABS (Always Be Studying) mantra has given Manning the ability to walk up to the line of scrimmage without ever having the need to huddle up. He has learned to call his own plays, and then change the play about four times before receiving the hike from center Jeff Saturday. His poise, his determination, and his knowledge of the game and of opposing defenses’ are astounding. And it’s scary.

The Colts could have very easily won Super Bowl XLIV. Baskett could have very easily fallen right on that ball and the Colts would have completed a quick march down the field for another end zone and ownership of complete momentum. Garcon and Wayne could have very easily caught those passes and had 14 more points on the board. And how often is it that Reggie Wayne isn’t as much of a focal point in a game as he was in this one?

If it weren’t for all these mistakes or – Happenings of the Almighty’s Ultimate Plan - the Colts may be winners of yet another Super Bowl right now. If not for destiny’s calling, Peyton Manning might be currently regarded as the best player of all-time right now. His stats and knowledge of the game would only be sweet additions to the argument. With his numbers, his TWO rings would settle the dispute in a hurry.

Is it really fair to say Manning can’t win the big ones? From the mouths of some critics, it seems as though Manning’s value just fled down the drain and his previous ring a fluke.

If only a couple plays had been different, the legacy of Peyton Manning could be a completely different story.

But, it just wasn’t meant to be. Not this time. Not yet.

Manning now has next season to yet again prove to everybody why he’s the best. He’ll probably play well enough to receive the MVP award again whether he receives it or not, and he’ll be fighting the good fight in postseason play and leading his team into Arlington.

What a guy.

Super Bowl Barometer

Jeff Smith
2/11/10

Before this past Sunday’s Super Bowl, which we all know was captured by the New Orleans Saints in a dramatic 31-17 victory, much of the chatter swirled around Peyton Manning and the impact the game would have on his legacy. The general consensus was that a win would have solidified a place on the Mt. Rushmore of all-time great NFL quarterbacks, with many theorizing that a second Lombardi Trophy would have vaulted him into “The Greatest of All Time” territory. In the days since the Colts loss, opinions have been flying about its impact on the Manning legacy. It’s difficult to recall another game in NFL history in which a single player’s historical status took more of a hit. How could a four time regular season MVP, who is on pace to hold every significant NFL passing record, only secure one Super Bowl ring in a decade which his team posted more wins than any other team in history. Despite his other accolades, how can we place Peyton in the same rarified air as other Hall of Famers such as Joe Montana, who won four Super Bowls? If my mathematical skills serve me correctly, Manning’s one Super Bowl title is only ¼ of the total posted by Montana, thus Peyton Manning can be no more than ¼ the football player that Joe Montana was.
Nearly all of the media, and the majority of the general public, have adopted the Super Bowl Barometer (or SBB as I refer to it) as the primary system for sifting through the greatness of NFL quarterbacks. That’s an awfully lofty (not to mention unfair) benchmark by which to evaluate these field generals, who are ultimately only one of twenty-two players and numerous coaches on the field who impact the outcome of each game. Each and every play relies on every one of the eleven guys on the field performing their individual assignment to near perfection in order to move the football, or to stop the other team from doing so. Ultimately, a single superstar football player, like Peyton Manning, has no more ability to impact the final score of a game than the man who snaps the ball to him, the place kicker, or even the coaches making the offensive and defensive adjustments. The outcome of a football game is simply out of the control of any single player or coach and rests solely on the performance of the team as a cohesive unit.
Despite these realities, in terms of all-time greatness and Hall of Fame status, quarterbacks with more rings continue to get more respect. When examining the active signal callers, most still give the edge to Tom Brady over Peyton Manning based solely on his three Super Bowl rings, despite the fact that Manning has a higher career completion percentage, a higher QB rating, almost 20,000 more passing yards and 141 more TD passes. When it comes to comparing retired legends the same ridiculous Super Bowl Barometer is widely used. According to most, Dan Marino’s all-time greatness pails in comparison to that of Joe Montana, even though Marino outpaced Joe Cool by over 20,000 passing yards and nearly 150 touchdowns during their careers. Montana is widely accepted as the best quarterback to ever play simply because he was fortunate enough to be a member of four teams that won the Super Bowl, while Marino’s misfortune of never winning a championship leaves him seldom mentioned in the “Greatest Ever” conversation.
Furthering the bias of the SBB is its uneven application amongst players of all positions. Anthony Munoz and Bruce Matthews are widely considered to be two of the greatest offensive lineman in the history of the sport, yet when coming up with rationale to support this claim, Super Bowls are never mentioned. These two outstanding players had every opportunity to impact their respective offenses as much as the quarterbacks they protected, yet with no championships between them in a combined 32 seasons, their legacies remain untarnished. Hall of Famers such as Munoz and Matthews are portrayed as victims who were never fortunate enough to be paired with a top tier quarterback, yet quarterbacks such as Marino, and Manning, are criticized for not elevating the performance of mediocre teammates to a championship level.
When comparing the greatness of quarterbacks we could all use a reality check. I’m not proposing a complete overhaul of the system, as my own “greatness meter” would see many of the usual suspects claiming the top spots, but let’s not forget that every one of the twenty two players on the field have equal opportunity to impact the outcome of a game. We can’t patronize certain players for never playing with a great quarterback then turn around and place the blame for the shortcomings of an entire team on a quarterback’s shoulders. Remember, numbers never lie, and they are the best gauge that we have for determining the successfulness of a player as an individual. In a sport where a single player is able to have less impact on his team’s success than any other, I don’t want to diminish the Super Bowl accomplishments of Montana, Bradshaw, and Brady, let’s just remember not to minimize the greatness of quarterbacks such as Manning and Marino who weren’t quite as fortunate.

Perfect Season

Perfect Season:

16-0 v.s Superbowl Victory

By: Cody McGee

It's week fifteen in the NFL, The Indianapolis Colts led by the man who would eventually become the season MVP, Peyton Manning, were facing off against the New York Jets, holding a perfect record up to this point, the Colts had everything they needed to not only earn the number one seed in the AFC playoffs but they even clinched a first round bye and home field advantage. Seeing this game as nothing more than a game, head coach Jim Caldwell and gm Bill Polian decided to simply not go for the perfect season, and instead the rested the starters of the Indianapolis Colts, including quarterback Peyton Manning, and wide receivers Reggie Wayne and Austin Collie. In the end the New York Jets, walked away with a victory of the Colts, and blemished the perfect season up to this game. The second the final quarter was over, the fans went nuts, the follow week, the fans were calling for everything from Jim Caldwell's job to some extreme things as even Bil Polian's "head".

What this writer can not even begin to understand is, if the Colts had gone undefeated, and than lost week one of the Playoffs than what would the Colts fans be calling for than, huh?

Ok, I completely understand why "we" as fans would love to see an unblemished season and a perfect run for the Superbowl, but need i remind everyone of the hype that surrounded the Patriots in 2007. They were shrouded in controversy from week one. and in the end they did have a perfect season, and had a great run for the Superbowl, now ask Tom Brady what happened in the Superbowl, huh? Now see a perfect season is great and a sign of great and hard work, but it don't mean a thing without that ring, ok Brady has three but ya know what i bet he understands what Caldwell was trying to do. With a perfect season and no ring, ya than the fans would really be angry. Come on people.

Colts pursue prize, not perfection

By Peter D.

So there his team was, 14-0 on Sunday morning. But Caldwell realized the pure, and I submit diminishing, symbolism of it all. A perfect season seemed impossible for 50 years until the Miami Dolphins broke through in 1972. It was still an excellent feat when the Patriots went 16-0 in 2007 (only to lose the Super Bowl a month later, by the way). For the Colts to go 16-0 at this point would be, well, pretty neat.

Pretty neat? Fans are raging because Caldwell didn’t risk his players or his season in an attempt to be the THIRD team to accomplish something? I say bravo, Coach.

Can you imagine how unpopular Caldwell would be if Reggie Wayne pulled a hamstring late in this meaningless game? What if a Jets lineman poked Manning in the eye in the final few minutes? How many times have you heard an announcer or the guy sitting next to you at a bar say “I don’t know why So and So is even still playing in this game?”

Some critics argue if this is the case, why didn’t he bench his starters for the entire game? Why bother to play them for two and half quarters? He did so for three reasons.

First, to keep his star players tuned up for the postseason. Quality game action begets quality game action and cannot be replicated in practice. Some risk is warranted for the reward of a rust-free team. The alternative of sitting the starters for three total weeks including the first round bye is unthinkable. Expect the same regimen for the Colts players next week versus Buffalo.

Second, Caldwell realized that the fans, at the very least, pay the Colts’ salaries by buying tickets to the games, among other things like concessions and jerseys. At most, the fans are the very reason a team endeavors to win a Super Bowl in the first place. Whatever end of the spectrum he falls on, Caldwell gave these fans two and a half quarters to watch their favorite players. Did Phil Jackson ever sit Michael Jordan when the Bulls were up by 30 in the middle of the third quarter? Certainly. A bummer for the fans when he did, but always an understandable one.

The last reason Caldwell played his starters as much as he did is because he is human. He wanted to “take a stab” at the perfect record, which is all the effort something ‘pretty neat’ should be afforded. Who knew? Maybe Manning could have hit Clark and Wayne for two or three early scores, and maybe the defense and special teams could account for a couple more. Maybe.

Understand and be thankful for this, Colts fans and NFL purists: The Colts will be a rested, talented, and injury-free football team with a first round bye and home field advantage come playoff time. Is this not what you and the Colts dreamt way back in July? Doesn’t every team in every major sport wish for the very position the Colts have now achieved?

Caldwell surely understands that the popular thing is not always right, and the right thing is not always popular. Coach Caldwell…you may not be popular, but you, sir, were right.

noreply@blogger.com (Peter D. It's another interview. Heck, I love interviews, don't I.

After an interview with Scottie Cordier, the cornerback for Cal Poly, and then another one with Jerel Myers, a wide receiver for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League, this has to be one of the bests I think.

This is my interview with Indianapolis Colts wide receiver, Pierre Garcon.

I contacted Pierre in about April or May and I was wondering if he would ever respond back. I thought he never would. I contacted him at his website, PierreGarocnLive.com.

Then, on June 21, I went to the Email app of my cell phone and saw a name saying "Pierre Garcon." I was like, "Could this be it? Is this actually Pierre Garcon?"

If he was, I thought he said he couldn't do it because he was extremely busy. But I guess he wasn't, he said this in these exact words:

Hey what's up man, yeah we can do an interview.
Sent from my T-Mobile Sidekick®

It was tight, I know.

I just couldn't believe I was going to have an interview with a player on the Indianapolis Colts. Garcon is truly a rising star in the NFL and I think he is probably going to be the starting punt/kick returner.

Here is my ultimate and spectacular interview with Pierre Garcon. And trust me, you'll be satisfied.

Josh Dhani: What is it like being drafted by the Colts last year?

Pierre Garcon: It was the greatest feeling in the world. I couldn't have come to a better team. [It was a] perfect situation and to learn from great future Hall-of-Famers.

JD: Is there competition going on between you, Roy Hall, and Austin Collie to play at slot receiver spot?

PG: There is completion going on everyday in the NFL. It wouldn't be football without competition.

JD: What's it going to feel like when you score your first ever NFL touchdown?

PG: I don't know yet but I know it will be a great feeling and I will be very happy.

JD: Are you going to be the starting punt/kick returner this year?

PG: I hope so but I don't know the team could have other plans for me. But I'm working as if I am the starter.

JD: Were you ever nervous coming into your first NFL game?

PG: Yes, I was very nervous but I knew what I had to do, so that made me feel more comfortable.

JD: How does it feel getting your first ever NFL catch from one of the bests: Peyton Manning?

PG: It was great. It's an honor to play with him and all of the other great guys on the team.

JD: How do you feel about Colts drafting Donald Brown?

PG: Donald is a very good player and I'm glad he is here. He will help us out a lot.

JD: What are your goals for this season?

PG: To win the conference, have home field advantage in the playoffs, and win the Super Bowl!

I was so glad to have this interview with Pierre! He was a real nice guy to talk to and I wish him and the Colts all the luck this year! Watch out for this kid this year, he is going to be spectacular!

Manning-To-Marshall: Possible Chance Of Colts Pursuing Brandon Marshall?

After watching NFL Total Access and SportsCenter, and reading a few articles on Broncos' wide receiver Brandon Marshall requesting a trade, many people have said that he will go to the Ravens, Bears, or even the Buccaneers.

Some said that he won't be traded at all!

But you know what? He will be traded. If they can trade a wimpy Jay Cutler, how can they not trade a strong guy in Marshall? See what mess you have made now, Josh McDaniels? But I am glad you are making this happen.

Soon, all of you Eagles fans will be happy with Brian Dawkins and Correll Buckhalter returning, or not. And then Knowshon Moreno will be the only player left on the roster. Nah, just fooling with you.

I don't want to disrespect the Broncos because one of my favorite writers, Sayre Bedinger, is a Broncos fan and he is cool. I don't want to hurt his feelings. We're cool, right?

But sadly, Marshall will be traded. I can surely guarantee that he will not stay with Denver, especially with McDaniels saying that, "We can't wait to see Marshall in training camp."

No, not going to happen.

These teams have a possible chance of pursuing Marshall: the Baltimore Ravens, the St. Louis Rams, the Chicago Bears, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But wait.

There is one dark horse that can get Brandon Marshall, and after you've seen the title and the picture of two players that I wish could be teammates, you know who it is. For those of you who might have lost their eyesight and can't read well, I will just say it in big bold letters:

THE INDIANAPOLIS COLTS.

That's right, you heard me. The Colts—a team who struggled with their running game last year and have now lost an important player in Marvin Harrison.

Now every time I saw the Colts lost Harrison, everyone says that it is not a big deal because he is turning 37 years old.

Well, who cares about age? There's a 68-year-old who played 500 holes of golf for crying out loud! But that's golf, so who cares.

But still, Vinny Testaverde played football until he was 44. Brett Favre can still throw those gunslingers at age 40. Have you seen Jeff Garcia?

Dang!

And what about Jerry Rice, Jimmy Smith, Joey Galloway, and all those other receivers who played when they were 36 years old or older?

Harrison made a huge difference with Indy and now that he is ogne, the Colts have a possible chance of struggling. And that's not good at all.

Then, every time you will have people double-covering Wayne. But it'll be hard for Gonzo (Anthony Gonzalez) to get the ball because the whole time he has been playing, he was a slot receiver. He'll get moved up and it will be pretty tough for him in his first year to get promoted up.

The Colts do have a big chance of pursuing Brandon Marshall. Shut up about the salary cap, the Colts can do this. They will find a way to trade a player, and heck, maybe they'll trade a future draft pick.

They'll find ways to do it.

Some of you might then say that they don't like Marshall's character and the Colts aren't that type of team that will welcome those kind of players. Sure, you may be right, but not entirely. There are some players on the Colts squad that have that type of character.

There is a guy on that team that has that.

And when you say Marshall won't fit well, please take a look above. That picture says it all, and is why I put it up there so I can stop some of your guys' yapping.

I can see Marshall in a Colts' uniform with a number 16 or 14 (number 15 belongs to Pierre Garcon).

Just imagine what good could come out if Marshall was on the Indianapolis Colts. It'll be heaven for Manning. Maybe Brandon Marshall will be the young Marvin Harrison for Manning. And then a new receiver tandem has emerged.

It'll look exactly like the 2004 Colts. A rushing attack with two backs with Edgerrin James and Dominic Rhodes (now Joseph Addai and Donald Brown). Then a well quarterback in Peyton Manning. And then the three receivers who had ten touchdowns or more that are Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Brandon Stokley (now Brandon Marshall, Reggie Wayne, and Gonzo).

I can definitely see that happening.

That Manning-to-Marshall tandem will truly be exciting. Although, this may not happen, and I believe it won't, it would be nice if this did happened. The great guys at Stampede Blue made it clear, so it probably won't happen.

But hey, it's a Colts fan can dream.

Colts Talk: Has a Rushing Attack Finally Formed?

"With the 27th pick of the NFL Draft..."--I was hoping for Evander Hood, a defensive tackle the Colts need deeply--"The Indianapolis Colts select Donald Brown, running back from Connecticut."

Yes! This was actually better than Evander Hood. But I never even thought of Donald Brown, the kid who led the College Football league in rushing last year, going to the Colts! Thought they would get some running back like Chris Wells. But I know why they didn't select "Beanie" Wells.

On Isaac Barrow's Live Draft Blog on The Sports Guys, I was commenting that Donald Brown was a good pick. Then he commented, "Well the draft is about taking the best player available. They should have just taken Chris Wells."

Then I thought...

No way! Remember when Joseph Addai was selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2006 NFL Draft? There were so much better running backs available than him. But he fit with the Colts scheme. And guess what? He led all the rookies running backs in rushing yards with 1,081 yards. Now I won't say Donald Brown would have the same thing but he will be close. Probably about 500 to 700 rushing yards at the least.

And that is why the Colts will have a very fearful rushing attack in 2009. Why? That is where I was just getting to, thank you very much.

The Colts had one of the best rushing attacks of Edgerrin James and Dominic Rhodes. It went on for a while, until after the 2005 NFL season when James left to play for the Cardinals. Then it was just Dominic Rhodes and James Mungro, all by themselves. Rhodes can't possibly do it by himself, although he did in 2001 when he filled in for Edgerrin James' injury and ran for 1,000 rushing yards.

But who will help him? James Mungro? Hell no! They needed a much better one-two punch, and they selected Joseph Addai in the 2006 NFL Draft. Addai ran for 1,081 rushing yards, accompanied by Dominic Rhodes with his 641.

But then Rhodes was released in after the Colts Super Bowl win over the Bears. Why? Rhodes was arrested for DUI, two weeks after the Super Bowl. Now what were they going to do? James Mungro retired with career-ending injury. All they had was...well nobody.

Then the Colts acquired Kenton Keith, a stat from the Canadian Football League (otherwise known as the CFL), that year and he and Addai became a very good one-two punch. It went on greatly and the Colts finished with a record of 13-3 and was ranked 15th in rushing.

The Colts eventually lost to the Chargers in the playoffs, 28-24 with the solid trio of Darren Sproles and LaDanian Tomlinson. In the 2008 season, Kenton Keith went back to the CFL. He is currently the star running back for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Meanwhile, Dominic Rhodes returned with a new number: 38.

The Colts became HORRIBLE in rushing, ranked the second-worst in the NFL. Thank god the Cardinals were dead last because of their three thousand-yard receivers. The Colts ended the season with a 12-4 record and lost to the Chargers again, getting pined by the trio of LT and Sproles.

Now we are here. It is Joseph Addai, Lance Ball, Chad Simpson, and Mike Hart. Now we have selected Donald Brown, the tremendous running back from Connecticut. He may be short but his burst and pounding makes it infectious.

Now the Colts can have a dominant run force: Joseph Addai, Donald Brown, Mike Hart, Chad Simpson, and Lance Ball. Now how will we use this handy-dandy trio? There will be a lot of "hoopla" but hey, it will be a fun thing to watch. They will have a dominant run force. Has their rushing attack finally formed. Yes!

How? Facts, do the job.

Joseph Addai

Everyone knows that Addai will be the leading man for the Colts in the rushing attack. He will mentor all of the four running backs that are behind him in the depth chart, most importantly, though, Donald Brown.

Gene Huey, the Colts running backs coach, will take a big part with all of these running backs. With all of his running backs he has coached, they have all ran for 1,000 rushing yards: Edgerrin James, Dominic Rhodes, Joseph Addai, and some others.

Addai will be the mentor, even though he will be turning 26 years old. He has rushed for 1,000 yards, twice (2006: 1,081, 2007: 1,072)! Although, he

did have a disappointing year last year (544 rushing yards and a 3.5 yards per carry average), Addai will be much stronger because the o-line will get better and Addai has four backs behind his back.

Addai, you are the man.

Donald Brown

Ah, Donald Brown, the first ever player out of the University of Conneticut to ever be selected in the first round of the draft that is in the league called the National Football League, where dreams can really come true to an athlete.

A lot of Colts fans, like me, are in joy with the pick. Just ask Ryan Michael, his Bleacher Report account's profile picture shows a picture of the fellow named Donald Brown.

Brown led the league in rushing, not the NFL but College Football, with his 2,083 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. Dazzling!

He left for the NFL Draft with 3,800 career rushing yards and 33 touchdowns. And don't forget the 5.4 yards per carry average! Brown looks to be the Dominic Rhodes of 2006. Brown will be able to rush from 200-800 rushing yards this

year.

Joseph Addai will mentor him the most and Brown will contribute to the

running game. You'll be seeing a lot of stuff from Donald Brown. Brown will be sharing carries with Joseph Addai. Addai having 1,000 yards and Brown probably having 600.

Isaac Barrow predicts 500-550 rushing yards. We'll see as time passes by. Right now, the one-two punch has been built. But there is a key player in the mix.

Mike Hart

To me, Hart will be the key to the Colts rushing attack success. Why? I heard some rumors of him being the third-down and goal-line running game.

Here's my perpective: he will only be a goal-line running back. This kid is exceptionally tough. He is a pound-for-pound running back that changes the whole course of the game when he scores.

He had an injury last year and he just has to battle those injuries if he wants to be a successful football player. And you never know, sometime in his career, he has to be an all-down running back. If the Colts are down at the one-yard-line, you know where to go.

Chad Simpson and Lance Ball

These two guys will be another key to the rushing attack in the pre-season and at the end of the season.

Remember who Chad Simpson did when Addai was out. He and Dominic Rhodes pounded out the Lions in the 31-21 victory.

But that was just the Lions, and overall, they sucked that year. Probably this year they are better with the additions of Matthew Stafford and Brandon Pettigrew. But skip that!

Simpson has been pretty dominant. Just a few more years and he can be a solid backup or a starter with a future team. I see him as fourth-string or third-string running back. He probably is the guy who will be getting the most carries at the end of the season.

Now to Lance Ball. This kid was just great. In College, he averaged 82 rushing yards per game. He was third in his conference in rushing. And by playing for Maryland, he played with the speedy Darrius Heyward-Bey, who, suprisingly, got drafted by the Oakland Raiders as the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Lance Ball only started one game last year with the Colts: the 23-0 flop over the Tennessee Titans. Ball had 83 rushing yards, including a stellar 6.4 yards per carry average. Ball might make the practice squad at best. Or, like Chad Simpson, he will be getting the carries at the end of the season.

Conclusion

Five running backs isn't so bad. But one of these guys will be lost, and I really think it might be Chad Simpson. I think Lance Ball will perform well, do his thing, and can make it. Just wait and see. Just you wait and see.

But without Chad Simpson, the Colts rushing attack will still be rolling. So it wouldn't really matter, not at all!

Here is your rushing attack:

Joseph Addai: The Mentor

Donald Brown: The Quickness

Mike Hart: The Pound-for-Pound

Chad Simpson: The End-of-the-Year Boost

Lance Ball: The Small But Mighty

Now Peyton Manning is like, "Finally a rest!"

And that's the best!

NFL Talk: Facing the Facts of Where Anquan Boldin Will Really Go

A lot of talk has been going around Anquan Boldin. Thanks to two good friends of mine, Isaac Barrow and Mitchell Timp, helped me with some idea.

I don't know if Isaac knows, but his article really made want to make an Anquan Boldin article of my own. He, and a little bit of John Clayton (ESPN), said that the Ravens have the best chance of getting him.

I agree but there is some more teams. I don't know if the Ravens will get Boldin, but it is better than wasting a pick in the first round. Okay, let's not get too far. I will label all the teams that have a chance for Boldin. Some of them are listed above but I left out one.

So who will get Boldin? A sweepstakes helped me, and hey, it is still going on. When does it end? Never, until someone gets him. Let's go!

Indianapolis Colts

Well I am a Colts fan, aren't I? Well I didn't pick Boldin for the Indianapolis Colts just because I am a Colts fan. Because the Colts actually need him. Quite a while ago, the Colts released Marvin Harrison because of the offer.

Now the Colts really need a receiver. I said, in my mock draft with Mitchell Timp, that the Colts will get Ramses Barden. Bad idea. Not the typical player in that round. But he is a steal but I say, like Isaac Barrow, he will be in the second-through-third round of the draft. I am also his friend on Facebook!

And now back to the Boldin story.

Now the Colts have no receiver to replace Harrison. Who will, though? One answer: Anquan Boldin. If the Colts can trade some of their draft picks and probably some player, (Not exactly sure who it will be...Roy Hall? I don't know!) they can actually get the player who had a fight with his offensive coordinator.

But the likes of that happening of the Colts getting Boldin is very slim. They either look to get Hakeem Nicks as the 28th pick in the draft. But hey, a Colts fan can dream.

Is that right, Ryan Michael and Bryan Brackeny?

Baltimore Ravens

Well the Ravens do have the best chance of getting Boldin, like Paul said and Isaac. But now, it's my turn to say something, but you guys did a good job, too. Now Derrick Mason won't stay in the NFL forever. He is a reliable receiver and he will retire and probably two-to-three years at the maximum probably.

And then if Mason leaves, who will help out Mark Clayton? You can't possibly change Todd Heap to receiver, although that would be pretty cool. Or L.J. Smith, but it might not happen for Smith because Isaac said he "sucks." But don't worry Isaac, Smith could be good for the Ravens.

Now let's get to my point of Boldin.

They could trade their first- or third-round picks for Boldin. With Boldin in the mix for the Ravens, and a possible chance of Barden in the third- or fourth-round of the draft, it could happen. And there has been a lot of "hoopla" going on for the Ravens (again, like Isaac has said...what a Ravens' fan he is) and with Boldin in, it would be hoop-hoopla.

Minnesota Vikings

Hey, Mitchell Timp, this is for you. So the Vikings last best receiver (This is what I think. No disrespect to the Vikings fans and the receivers for the team) has been Randy Moss who has been with them from 1998-2004. Then there was Cris Carter.

Now there is Bernard Berrian.

I know there is some other receivers for the team that are good, like Sidney Rice or Bobby Wade. But those guys are developing into good receivers. Bobby Wade is actually pretty good but I personally think that Berrian is a lot better. Berrian, 99-yard touchdown pass last year.

Pretty good, huh?

But then there is Anquan Boldin...

If the Vikings could trade someone, or a draft pick (but more of a draft pick, I bet), they could get Boldin. Boldin wants money. Vikings can do that. Can Boldin be a Viking? Hell yes. If he was...Vikings got there guy.

No more crap for T-Jack. He has a guy to throw to, finally! Why did they get Rosenfels then?

Miami Dolphins

Been hearing rumors that Dolphins could get Boldin in one of my series of Big Sports News. I believe it. Again, trade someone. The Dolphins have their quarterback in Chad Pennington, who I think won Comeback Player of the Year (What is that? Like 30 of them already?), and Pennington is looking for a receiver.

The Dolphins do have Ted Ginn Jr., Ernest Wilford (Who really didn't play last year. Probably due to injury.), Greg Camarillo, and Davone Bess. But Camarillo and Bess are developing. The Dolphins could trade Wilford and (Or or) one-to-three draft picks for Boldin.

But what can he do?

A lot. The Dolphins really need help on the passing game. They really relied on Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Now they got to step up there game. With the Dolphins getting Boldin, they could probably also get Darrius Heyward-Bey along to help the passing game big time.

Sound good, huh?

Jacksonville Jaguars

With the signing of Torry Holt just now, the Jaguars need another receiver, too. Holt is turning 32, and they need a younger 28-year-old guy like Anquan Boldin along with the "Big Game."

Because Torry Holt can't take place of the releases of Matt Jones and Jerry Porter, who looked to become stars but couldn't. Jerry Porter didn't do anything and Matt Jones had an arrest (what a shame).

I don't how the Jaguars could get Boldin but with that strong first round pick and probably a third-to-fifth round pick, they could get Boldin. It would be nice. Then there is no point getting a quarterback in the NFL draft. David Garrard needs a target.

The Jaguars are known for their running game and it might not be as good because of the loss of Fred Taylor. So if the Jaguars can get another receiver, especially Boldin (of course), they could be dominant team in the AFC South.

Although I don't want that to happen because I am a Colts fan. Sorry Jags.

New York Giants

The Giants were doing...great! There was that Earth,Wind, and Fire system. Eli Manning really developing into a Pro Bowl quarterback. But something screwed it up: Plaxico "Shoot-Myself-In-The-Leg" Burress.

The Giants released him not too long ago. Now they need to find a receiver, fast! They don't even have Amani Toomer! All they have is...well, nobody! Get Boldin, quick! With Boldin, the Giants are back on track.

Maybe Boldin won't shoot but Manning will because he is so happy with Anquan on the team.

San Francisco 49ers

With a possible chance of Michael Vick getting added (thanks to Mike) or getting Mark Sanchez in the NFL Draft, the Niners need a receiver. They have Isaac Bruce and Brandon Jones. Don't forget this rising star: Josh Morgan. And then there is the tight end, Vernon Davis.

But who are the 49ers missing? No one you may say. How so? They need a receiver. Bruce will retire next year, guarantee it. I know he is going to enter his 16th season but there is no way there is going to be a 17th.

Now to Boldin.

49ers could possibly get him. Trade both of their quarterbacks (Shaun Hill and Alex Smith, but that might not work at all with those two guys because they suck) and pair of draft picks and you got Boldin. But I don't think it will happen.

With the Niners in the same division as the Cardinals, they won't to take a risk of getting beaten by them all the time! They can get Boldin, but it would be tough as hell as it is.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Don't worry, folks. I am almost done. Just this one and two more. Now of course I had to involve the Buccaneers. Sure, they have Michael Clayton, but his status has been going down by the years. His status just went up, somehow, by the re-signing of him.

With Byron Leftwich signed; it will be Josh Johnson, Brian Griese, Luke McCown, and (of course) Leftwich competing for the starting quarterback spot in the depth chart. I think Leftwich would win with Johnson as a runner-up (I'll tell you why).

But who can be the receiver for the Buccaneers? Joey Galloway is long gone, he is a Cheatriot, oops, I mean Patriots (sorry Andrew Cahill, Sean Crowe, and many other Patriots fans). Buccaneers need a wide receiver.

Get Boldin.

They could trade somebody. Someone like Josh Johnson and a draft pick. That could work. Kurt Warner will retire in one-to-two years, however. Matt Leinart, not sure of him as a real good potential starting quarterback, even though he does have a second chance. With Boldin, the Bucs are capable of being a strong team.

Philadelphia Eagles

Now, this is to guys like Dan Parzaych (sorry if I mis-spelled your name here man), Bryn and Cody Swartz, and Geoff Crawley. Now the Eagles look to have the best bet I am not too sure but let's get a move on!

With "Fraction" DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis, the Eagles have somebody missing. McNabb needs the best receiver since T.O. Now he can.

If they can trade some draft picks, they have a potential chance of getting Anquan Boldin. And it is better than getting Knowshon Moreno in the draft. Trust me. It is. 100 percent guaranteed you'll be satisfied with that kind of product.

It will work and the Eagles can be real amazing. And guess what? Super Bowl time.

Arizona Cardinals

How about Boldin goes with nobody? I mean seriously. The Cardinals are missing out on a great receiver. Who will the Cards replace Boldin with? Amani Toomer? No! Come on!

It was all good with the "Big Three" of the Cardinals: Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston. Stay and play.

Where Will Boldin Go?

I say the Baltimore Ravens. And hey, why not? I don't think the Cardinals should ever trade Boldin to an NFC team because then they would get killed by Boldin in the playoffs and probably the regular season.

With an AFC team, you just play Boldin once every four years and maybe meet him in the Super Bowl. The other AFC teams might not have the cap room, like the Cardinals themselves. And Boldin deserves more money.

So Ravens get Boldin.

What do you think? Fans, say your word.

Former Colts RB, Dominic Rhodes, Signs with Bills

It is now official: Bills have found their new running back. His name? Dominic Rhodes. Last year, Rhodes was on my favorite team: The Indianapolis Colts. Now he is gone. What can the Colts do now? But right now, the Bills have time to shine.

On Monday, Rhodes was already going to ink a deal with the Bills for two years. And the Bills needed a primary, veteran running back more than the Colts need to. The Colts now have Lance Ball, Mike Hart, and, of course, Joseph Addai.

Now that Marshawn Lynch will face a three-game suspension at the starting of the regular season, they need a running back to fill in. They can't use Fred Jackson because he is right now a training-camp holdout. Rhodes could be a perfect fit.

And Rhodes told Sirius Radio that he would like to start against the New England Patriots in the season-opener because of Lynch not there. And you never know, Rhodes could be a starter.

It will be like the Colts' one-two punch with Addai and Rhodes but now it will be Rhodes and Lynch. I think the Bills' one-two punch is better, in my mind, even though I am a Colts fan.

"They're looking for big production out of me," Rhodes said. "I am ready."

I'm sure he is.

Rhodes was a backup to Joseph Addai but Rhodes did have some carries and did start four games. He had 538 rushing yards on 152 attempts, six touchdowns, and almost four yards per carry average (he had 3.5).

Rhodes is now 30 years old. He played for the Colts in seven-out-of-the-eight seasons he played in the league. His ninth season looks to be good for this year. He was also a big key to the Colts' successful win over the Chicago Bears (sorry Bob Warja) in Super Bowl XLI in a 29-17 win.

Rhodes, in his rookie year, had his only 1,000-yard-season because of Edgerrin James' injury. Rhodes has never started a complete season like those star running backs you see. He is more of a helping-running back, which are the type of backs I like to enjoy watching.

They are like point guards. Helping other guys out and giving out assists for themselves. That is the type of guy Rhodes is. Can he do it for Marshawn Lynch? Of course he can!

He was supposed to be re-signed by the Colts but an offer never was made. Probably not a lot of team were interested because of the DUI arrest he had in 2007, a couple of days after the Super Bowl win. If he had never done that, guarantee that 32 NFL teams would be all over him.

But now he won't do that anymore!

"I was getting a little nervous," Rhodes said. "I was like, "Didn't I do a good job last year?'"

Well the Bills think so. Why else would they sign you? And every Colts fan believed you were GREAT last year.

Watch out defenses, Rhodes could be a scare!

Colts Talk: Should They Get Plaxico?

After being released by the Giants, where the hell will Plaxico Burress go now? I got an answer, the Indianapolis Colts. Yes, I know. A lot people might be thinking, "J.D., are you serious? Plaxico Burress in a COLTS UNIFORM!"

But I do have a few reasons why Plax should be a Colt. And here they are:

Could he be the replacement for Marivn Harrison? Can he possibly be better than Marvin Harrison? Now that I really don't see Marvin coming back to the Colts, or going to any other team, what should the Colts decide to do? If they don't get a receiver at all in the off-season, it will be tough.

Marvin has been so productive but now that he is aging, his productivness is fading away. Now the Colts need a new receiver. How can you deny the size? At 6'5" and 232 pounds, he is also fast and can catch.

If the Colts get Burress, then they don't have to waste a draft pick on a wide receiver. Then the Colts can get James Laurinaitis in the NFL draft. That would be swell. Peyton can also have another good target to help out Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez.

The Colts have a huge shot of getting Plaxico. They have gotten a gift. Now use it. If they got him, it would be just like last year. I was hoping the Colts would get Mike Hart, and they did. They just got lucky. And now they can get lucky once more.

The Colts could be a dominant team with Plaxico. He will be the tallest receiver for the team, and that is a good thing. With the same height as Peyton Manning, Manning will find another new target. Better than Marvin and Reggie.

You'll be seeing more dazzling numbers. The Colts receivers aren't that tall. Right now, their tallest one is Roy Hall at 6'3". But he may be cut from the team this year. Roy Hall isn't even ready to play, I bet.

The Colts have so many receivers to choose from, but now they have the right one: Plaxico Burress.

If they get Plax, the Colts' Super Bowl run is back!

Colts Talk: Should They Bring Back Cato June, Marvin Harrison, and Dominic Rhodes?

With the Colts not re-signing Freddie Keihao and Tyjaun Hagler, should they start bringing in new ones in the draft?

Absolutely not!

Why bring James Laurenitis, like the NFL Network suggested in their mock draft, when they can bring back this important linebacker: Cato June?

Now that Reggie Wayne might be the number one target, it will be hard running the offense because everyone will be ganging up on him. Manning has to throw to Roy Hall, Pierre Garcon, or Anthony Gonzalez (see Breaking Down the Colts Pt. 3). Still, it will be tough for them to get the ball because they really aren't masters of the playbook like Harrison and Wayne.

And speaking of Harrison...why can't we bring him back? This guy is a legend to the Colts, and no one is interested in the soon-to-be 37-year-old wide receiver who still has something left in the tank.

The last year when Joseph Addai struggled, Dominic Rhodes helped out big time. Rhodes is in free agency, and only a few teams have expressed interest in him.

But he hasn't been signed by those teams, has he? No way. We should bring Rhodes back. Rhodes is a great player. If you don't believe me, take a look for yourself.

And Bryan Brackney. I am sorry, but I highly disagree with those of you who say that if Rhodes gets signed by the Colts, Mike Hart can easily beat him out for the second string back in the depth chart. Rhodes is the X-Factor to the team. He has been very good with the Colts, and every year he gets better and better.

Now that I have covered Rhodes, what about the other two Colts' amazing players?

Marvin Harrison...does that ring a bell, anybody? Of course.

Marvin's lowest totals were in 2007 and 2008. 2007 wasn't really that bad because Harrison missed much of the season. But 2008 was the fall of the Marvin Harrison era. And it looked like it. After Harrison declined the deal the Colts offered him, Harrison thought he could have an easy path in free agency?

So, how's that going for him? Not that good, is it?

A lot of people say that Harrison will re-join his teammate from Syracuse, Donovan McNabb. I thought it would be a perfect fit. Then I saw an article on Bleacher Report, can't remember what it was called, but he was saying that Harrison can be on the PATRIOTS, and if they nabbed him, the Pats Super Bowl chances would be a no-brainer.

I agree.

But nothing has happened.

I think we should bring Harrison back. Just ask Ryan Michael. His article pretty much explained it, for sure. I would love to see Harrison back. When I was watching NFL Network's Top 10: Passing Combinations or whatever it was called, the number one was another no-brainer: Manning to Harrison.

One dude said, "This passing trend will be here for a long time." Well, it's gone, but not really.

Then he said that "everyone is going to miss this one. People will be talking about this trend for a long time."

I hope people still are. The Colts should really consider bringing back Harrison.

There is no point wasting their first round draft pick on Hakeem Nicks or something like that. The Colts should do that in probably the third or fourth round.

What receiver is good in the third or fourth round? Ramses Barden. I explained it well in another article, but we should draft Barden with Harrison still on the team.

Harrison has been a legend. If he can stay for about one or three more years, I think it would be great. He could be very close close to breaking Jerry Rice's records. I would really love to see that happen.

We need Harrison back. Let's see what happens. You never know, he could retire, but let's hope he doesn't.

But there is another person who surely won't retire now. He was a great player to the Colts D. Ladies and gentleman, please applause for the Colts' next contestant....CATO JUNE!

Cato June has been amazing with the Colts. After being a solid linebacker for the Buccaneers, he is in free agency. According to the Colts Corner, the Texans have spread huge interest in June. But why should the Colts let June fall into the Texans' hands? The Colts have got to steal it away.

June can be a decent linebacker for the Colts now that he's aged a bit. But this is a tough decision. The Colts still have Clint Session and Gary Brackett. They might use Phillip Wheeler as the next starting linebacker, but it could be a huge risk.

I think June should come back. Why? Well, with Hagler and Keihao possibly going to the Texans, and no chance of the Colts bringing them back, they should bring June back. He could fill in for Hagler's shoes. June can become a great player.

June has lost some of his potential, though. His highest number of tackles with the Bucs was 69! But according to the stats, he only started 14 games in both of those years. His last 100 tackle season was in 2006 with the Colts! And it was 142 tackles, his career-high.

Besides his rookie year, all of his other years with the Colts have been 100 tackle seasons. With pretty much 500 total tackles, he can bring it up. He's only 29 and probably has at least seven to eight years left in him.

Should the Colts take this risk?

Fans, you decide. Should we bring back Dominic Rhodes, Marvin Harrison, and Cato June? Comment below and let's hear your opinion. Bring them out! Don't be afraid to share you thoughts. It looks good to hear them.

Decide now!

Colts Talk: Breaking Down the Team Pt. 3: Wide Receivers

The Colts had a great season last year.

Not just great. It was amazing.

They started out the season with a painful loss to the Chicago Bears, 29-13. That was the first time they lost their first game of the season since 2004 when they lost to the Patriots.

The Colts started out with a 3-4 record that year. That was just not how the Colts play.

After that, the Colts shined. After beating the Patriots, 18-15, that was the start of the nine-game win streak. They made it towards a 12-4 record and made the playoffs.

One of the anchors on CBS said that the Colts were the hottest team coming into the playoffs. Unfortunately, it didn’t look like it. They lost to the Chargers, 23-17, in overtime while the Colts didn’t even have a chance to touch the ball.

After that painful loss, Tony Dungy said that it was over for him in football. After that, he retired from the Colts and wrote a book called, Uncommon.

The Colts were looking for a new coach. Gladly, they found Jim Caldwell, a man who has been with the staff for quite some time.

What can Caldwell do? Is he the man for the job? Can the Colts show the world they have a running game and they can be Super Bowl contenders?

Let’s see what happens.

Today we will be talking about the wide receivers in part of the roster of the Indianapolis Colts. I am going to break them down. I hope NFL and Colts fans enjoy this article.

Reggie Wayne: 82 catches. 1,145 receiving yards. 14.0 average. Six touchdowns.

Now that the legend receiver, Marvin Harrison, is gone, Reggie Wayne has to step up to the stage and perform great like never before. Reggie Wayne was always accompanied with Marvin Harrison on his back. Now Wayne needs to step up to his own mic and sing it away.

Wayne did pretty good this year. He earned another spot in the Pro Bowl. His best game was probably in the 24-20 win over Ben Roethlishberger and the Steelers. Wayne had six catches for 114 yards, including a very lucky 65-yard tipped-touchdown pass from Peyton Manning.

Wayne is here to change the game, to the Colts that is. With Harrison gone, Anthony Gonzalez is probably going to be the second receiver and probably Roy Hall, Pierre Garcon, some rookie receiver a Colts might draft, or a free agent will be the slot receiver.

But besides talking about that, we need to get back to the point of Reggie Wayne. Wayne started the year with 10 catches for 86 yards, including one touchdown. Wayne's next game came with five catches for 93 yards and another touchdown. It was a pretty good average yards per catch, with 18.6. That 32-yard-catch made a huge difference there.

Wayne stroked back again with three catches for 74 yards. That mostly game from that 40-yard-catch. Pretty good, huh? Probably.

Reggie Wayne had pretty good totals for his last three games: 18 catches, 253 yards, 17.3 average, and two touchdowns. Wayne can become a huge threat next year. Why? Wayne was pretty much a number one receiver in the 2007 and 2008 season, due to the injury of Harrison in 2007 and the aging of him striking in 2008.

With a Super Bowl ring, he looks to bring another. Wayne will be the number one receiver next year and could possibly have way better stats. You could see a record-breaker of the 143 catches set my Marvin Harrison. Wayne could probably get 243 if he tried.

Colts should probably re-sign Harrison, though. It helps Wayne better. Anthony Gonzalez will need to step up. And speaking of Anthony Gonzalez....

Anthony Gonzalez: 57 catches. 664 receiving yards. 11.6 average. Four touchdowns.

Even though Gonzalez has career NFL stats of what probably Randy Moss or Terrell Ownes can have in one year (94 catches for 1,240 yards and seven touchdowns), Gonzalez is still considered a big key to the Colts' passing game.

Gonzalez's best game came against the Patriots as Gonzalez had two touchdowns that day. He started out the season with decent numbers for a receiver in the slot position: five catches for 48 yards. The next game was spectacular in the Colts' 18-15 win over the Vikings: nine catches for 137 yards and a 58-yard catch.

See? Coming out Ohio State isn't a bad thing. Sorry Troy Smith, but you still have a chance. Gonzalez will look to be a second receiver like Reggie Wayne was last year. Gonzalez will have to stand the change, though.

He will be in plays way more often. He's going to have to work hard against a better cornerback. But Gonzalez can be the next Reggie Wayne. It will be a new pattern, actually. It will be like Marvin Harrison helping out Wayne but now it is Wayne helping out Gonzalez.

Gonzalez can fit nicely and can make his first Pro Bowl in a couple of years. If he can make the stats like he did in those games last year, he can be a possible threat. Why? Take a look at Brandon Stokley and see what he did. Why not Harrison? He started out as not big of a receiver but now shined.

Reggie Wayne anyone? He started out as a nobody, too. Then after watching how Harrison did it, Wayne snapped quickly. It may take time for Anthony to adjust, but trust me, he will get it sometime soon. By learning from Reggie Wayne, there will be another big one-two punch like the old Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne one-two punch.

But what about that one-three punch that the Colts had when it was Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, and Brandon Stokley? Or Harrison, Wayne, and Gonzalez? That is when Roy Hall comes into the picture.

Roy Hall: One Catch. Nine receiving yards. Nine average. Zero touchdowns.

About to be positioned as a split end, Roy Hall actually was considered as a wide receiver. He had a blazing time at the 40-yard-dash with 4.35 seconds. Nice! Then came his 19 reps. He is amazing, I say.

Then what makes it better as that he can run routes. But I'm not done! Take a look at his size: 6'3" and 239 pounds! Pretty big guy. He probably is a good friend of Anthony Gonzalez because they are both from OSU.

Even though the stats don't look like much, Hall can be a threat. He was listed as a fourth-string receiver, so you couldn't really see much out of him. His pre-season stats were good, for two games. Despite the fact he only played two games in the pre-season, the stats are average or under average, just saying the truth here: six catches for 51 yards.

Not that much, but I really think Hall can be a good receiver. The size helps a lot. He is pretty much the tallest receiver for the team. Hall can leap over defenders and can be just truly amazing. So if you see Hall as a slot receiver, don't be surprised, he can be a threat.

He can be a Kevin Walter to the Colts. Just the type of guy that helps out big when you need it. I really would like to see how Hall plays. After putting up big numbers in his Pro Day in like one or two years ago, Hall can flourish.

What if Hall can't do it? Or what if we cut him? What if he gets injured? Hey, Pierre Garcon, where are you? You can be the man!

Pierre Garcon: Four catches. 23 receiving yards. 5.8 average. Zero touchdowns.

After having 47 career touchdowns at Mount Union and being a scary returner on special teams, it's no wonder why the Colts drafted this small-school player. I've seen Garcon have some playing time with the team this year. One time I saw him in the 24-20 over the Steelers and Garcon had one catch for two yards.

Then I saw him doing kick and punt returns for the team. He did have 22 returns for 475 yards on kick returns this year. His longest return was for 39 yards. He averaged about 22 yards per return. He only had one punt return last year, for five yards.

Then I saw him having some playing time in the last game of the season with three catches for 21 yards. His stats in the pre-season were seven catches for 74 yards and a 32-yard catch.

It is going to be a big battle between Roy Hall, Garcon himself, and probably a draft pick or free agent to make the team and be the slot receiver. It looks to be a good fight. Garcon could possibly be the kick returner this year.

He looks to be great. With his amazing punt returns and kick returns in college, I hope he passes on those great skills in the NFL. Garcon looks to be a pretty decent receiver. He probably can beat Hall. Even though Hall has a better size advantage, Garcon can beat him out.

Well those are the wide receivers. I am sorry couldn't break down the tight ends. That will come next time. I just don't have enough room. If I did put tight ends, you will probably reading a six-to-11-paged article. But please check out next time when you see tight ends. Then after tight ends, I will break down the o-line.

Hope you enjoyed this article and peace out!<

Colts Talk: Breaking Down the Team Pt. 2: Running Backs

After he retired from the Colts and wrote a book called, Uncommon.

Last time, you saw the quarterbacks and how good I explained them. Thank you very much! Now today, I am going to break down the running backs. I know I said fullbacks in the last article, but there is actually no fullbacks, just running backs. Next time, it will be the wide receivers and tight ends. So let's go!

Joseph Addai: 155 carries. 544 rushing yards. 3.5 yards per carry average. Five touchdowns.

This year was a disappointing year for Joseph Addai.

This is the first time in his NFL career that he has not reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark. After coming off a year of 1,072 rushing yards, Addai looked to dominate more with Dominic Rhodes on his back.

He didn't.

He was on D-Rhodes' back. It all started in a 29-13 lost to the Bears. Addai has 12 carries for 44 yards. Pretty decent, but what made it go down was the 3.7 yards per carry average. It was okay.

The next game was horrible though. In a 18-15 win against the Vikings: 15 carries for 20 yards. 1.3 yards per carry average. One touchdowns.

Horrible!

You just don't see 15 carries for 20 yards. The next game was fabulous for Addai. He started to improve dramatically. He had 16 carries for 78 yards with a 4.9 yards per carry average. It also included two touchdowns but it wasn't enough in the 23-21 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Addai had another big game in the next one in a 31-27 win over the Texans: 17 carries for 71 yards and one touchdown, including a 4.2 yards per carry average. Those were very good numbers. Has last two games were great, resulting in 34 carries for 149 yards and three touchdowns, including a 4.6 yards per carry average.

Addai started to go low in his next three games, one including two carries for only three yards. The highest yards per carry average was 2.8! Addai was just having a horrible year.

The next three games were surprising for Addai.

It started out with 22 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown, including a 4.8 yards per carry average in a 33-27 win over the Texans. Addai just has great games over the Texans. He had a total of 39 carries for 176 yards and two touchdowns, including a 4.5 yards per carry average against the Texans.

In the next game, resulting in a 23-20 win over the Chargers, Addai had 16 carries for 70 yards and a 4.4 yards per carry average. The next game was okay. Not very good but pretty decent numbers in a 10-6 win over the Browns: 15 carries for 57 yards and a 3.8 yards per carry average.

In his last three games, Addai dazzled his numbers up very good. He had a total of 53 carries for 232 yards and one touchdowns, including a 4.3 yards per carry average. Those are very good numbers.

How can you say good? Those are spectacular! Miraculous! Just amazing!

Even though his last three games were amazing, the the next four were just the opposite.

It started out in a 35-3 win over the Bengals. Even though it was a killer win, Addai had only 10 carries for 26 yards and only a 2.6 yards per carry average. Then in the next two games, he missed, due to an injury.

His last game was only good in the passing game. The running game was nothing: One carry, four yards, four yards per carry average. But anyways, Addai had a 55 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter in that 23-0 win over the Titans.

Addai ended the season with the stats shown in the big bold letters above. Addai didn't have much of a big game in the 23-17 overtime loss to the Chargers: 16 carries for 44 yards and one touchdowns, including a 2.8 yards per carry average.

Even though Addai didn't dazzle this year, he probably will next year. With Mike Hart coming back and Lance Ball and Chad Simpson might have their ways and Dominic Rhodes backing up Joe, Addai can be the 1,000 yard rusher that he once was but still is.

I hope Addai helps out the Colts' running game that can lead the Colts towards their third Super Bowl win in their franchise history. Addai looks to be great next year.

Watch. You'll see.

Dominic Rhodes: 152 carries. 538 rushing yards. 3.5 yards per carry average. Six touchdowns.

Rhodes is my favorite running back ever!

Rhodes proved himself as a better running back than Addai last year, and that is why the Colts want Rhodes to stay with them still. Rhodes was a huge X-Factor to the team last year. Rhodes, in my opinion, is the man.

Even though his first two games of the season weren't that good: four carries for seven yards, including a 1.8 yards per carry average. Even though that wasn't that good, but his "X-Factorness" and backup running back skills were pretty helpful when it came to those kind of stats.

In a 23-21 loss to Jags, Rhodes had two carries for 24 yards. That included a 12 yards per carry average, the best yards per carry average in a game than any other Colts' running back on the team!

Rhodes next three games were just amazing. He had this combined total of dynamic stats: 62 carries for 216 yards and three touchdowns, including a 3.6 yards per carry average. Those are very good stats, for a backup.

Dom's best game as a starter came against the Lions when he had 20 carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns, including a 4.3 yards per carry average.

Rhodes also helped out the team as he and Clifton Dawson, who is now released by the team according to Bryan Brackney at The Colts Corner, took the load in the Titans game. Well, not Rhodes, but Dawson.

Rhodes ended the season with decent stats for a backup. He had four carries for 12 yards and a three yards per carry average.

Rhodes looks to re-sign with the Colts with a small amount of pay, due to that he wants to stay with the team and leave some cap room for the team. Let's hope Rhodes can lead the team to a fabulous Super Bowl win next year.

Chad Simpson: 15 carries. 45 rushing yards. Three yards per carry average. One touchdown.

Simpson is one of those helpful third-down backs. He will probably make the team as a fourth-string running back, behind Mike Hart next year or he might make the practice squad. Lance Ball might also mike the practice squad too.

Simpson did well in the pre-season. His best game in the pre-season came in a 23-20 lost to the Panthers as Chad Simpson had four carries for 27 yards and a 6.8 yards per carry average. Simpson ended the pre-season with 16 carries for 49 yards and a 3.1 yards per carry average.

Simpson's first game came in a 34-14 lost to the Packers as Simpson had two carries for one yard with a horrible .5 yards per carry average. Even though that happened, it was his first game.

His best game against in a 31-21 lost to the Titans in which Simpson had four carries for 23 yards and a 5.8 yards per carry average.

His first touchdown came when he and Rhodes took the load in a 31-21 win over the Lions. Simpson had seven carries for 17 yards and one touchdown, including a 2.4 yards per carry average. Even though the carry average isn't that good, Simpson was.

Simpson looks to help out the Colts in short-yard plays and might be a kick-off return specialist. He might also play a lot in the last game of the season. There are a lot of possible chances if Simpson will play next year. He looks to stay with the team, though.

Good luck Chad!

Lance Ball: 13 carries. 83 rushing yards. 6.4 yards per carry average. Zero touchdowns.

According to Colts Gab, they say that the Colts have re-signed Lance Ball. And on the Bryan Brackney article, they say that Lance Ball might be on the practice squad. I think Ball will make the team but probably might not play. He might play on the practice squad but we'll see.

Even if Ball does make the practice squad, let's just break down of what he's got.

His pre-season stats are no doubt, amazing! In the pre-season, he had 31 carries for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including a 4.4 yards per carry average.

Ball only played one game in the regular season. Ball had the stats that are shown above. He did amazing. There is an NFL video of Ball doing spectacular starting in the 23-0 win over the Titans.

Ball looks to help out the Colts big time next year. Let's see how he does. He's gotten a great start in his first NFL game, but can he do more? We'll find out next year.

Mike Hart: Two carries. Nine yards. 4.5 yards per carry average. Zero touchdowns.

Hart will become a short-yardage back next year with the Colts. It looks to be real exciting and I really can't wait! Hart did amazing in the pre-season, having 17 carries for 95 yards and a 5.6 yards per carry average.

Hart really couldn't do anything in the regular season last year. In his first game, a 29-13 loss to the Bears, Hart had one carry for seven yards and we all know what the yards per carry average is.

Hart's last game playing was against the Ravens when he only had one carry for two yards and a two yards per carry average. Hart was placed on IR that year and could have done more with the team if he hadn't have been injured.

After becoming a great in Michigan, he looks to pass it on in the NFL. Let's see what he does and I hope he does great. Hart looks like an amazing player. I wish him the best luck out of all of the running backs seen. Good luck, Mike!

So now you know the Colts' running backs. I hope you enjoyed the segments of the players in my article. Great read, huh? Stay tuned for next time as I break down the wide receivers and tight ends. Stay tuned...

Colts Talk: Breaking Down the Team Pt. 1: Quarterbacks

The Colts had a great season last year. They lost to the Chargers, 23-17 in overtime, while the Colts didn’t even have a chance to touch the ball. After that painful loss, Tony Dungy said that it was over for him in football. After he retired from the Colts and wrote a book called, Uncommon, the Colts were looking for a new coach. Gladly, the found Jim Caldwell, a man who has been with the staff for quite some time. What can Caldwell do? Is he the man for the job? Can the Colts show the world they have a running game and they can be Super Bowl contenders? Let’s see what happens. Today, I am going to break down the Colts. Every single player. Today, I start with the quarterbacks. Next time, I’ll go straight towards the running backs and fullbacks. Then, the time after that, it’s wide receivers. So you get the trend. Let’s get started!

Quarterbacks

Peyton Manning: 27 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 4,002 passing yards, and a 95.3 quarterback rating.

Peyton Manning started out horrible last year. After skipping training camp and missing the pre-season, Manning started out his first game of the season with a 81.8 rating. Even though he had no interceptions, the Bears dominated as Manning only completed 30-of-49 passes.

His next two games went worse. He had one touchdowns and two interceptions in both of those games. In the second game of the season, Manning had a 72.6 rating against the Vikings, with one touchdown and two picks. Manning had, almost, the same exact stats the next game against the Jaguars and had a 59.0 quarterback rating.

So, in his first three games of the season, Manning had three touchdowns and four interceptions with a 71.1 quarterback rating. After that horrible start, Manning improved to two touchdowns and only one interception, including a 101.0 rating.

The next game, Manning proved himself once more with three touchdowns and, finally, no picks! He finished with an amazing 134.7 rating. Manning improved deeply and was becoming a fine star. The Colts kept winning and winning.

Manning’s best game came against the Jaguars. He had three touchdowns and no picks with a dominant 140.7 quarterback rating. The 364 passing yards showed the pass game was on, while the running game wasn’t. It was a 31-24 win, as Keiwan Ratliff picked off David Garrard for a touchdown.

Manning ended the regular season with a 23-0 win over the Titans. Manning had a 158.3 rating as he went seven-for-seven and one touchdown with no picks. The 95 passing yards all went in the first quarter, and Jim Sorgi took it from there.

Manning ended the season with the stats shown above. Manning also won the MVP award, which looked to guide him towards a win in San Diego. Though Manning and the Colts lost, he showed pretty decent numbers. He had 310 passing yards, along with a touchdown and no picks. The 90.4 rating came when Manning went 25-42 on his passes.

Peyton Manning looks to guide the Colts to a playoff spot next year. He needs to. He has to. Lets hope Manning wins another MVP and guides himself and the Colts to their fourth Super Bowl and win it. Manning looks to earn his second Super Bowl ring while Tom Brady is worrying that Manning is only one ring behind. Can Manning do it?

Of course. He’s strong. He’s never missed a game. He only missed one play in his entire career while starting. He’s smart. Well, of course. Why else did he have 49 touchdowns in 2004? Good luck, Manning.

Jim Sorgi: No touchdowns, no interceptions, 178 passing yards and a 87.9 quarterback rating.
Jim Sorgi is probably one of my favorite backup quarterbacks. He has six touchdowns and one interception in his career. That is actually pretty good for a backup. He has a career 89.9 quarterback rating.

Sorgi disappointed the Colts in the 2007 regular season, when the Colts lost to the Titans, 17-14. It ended on a fourth down pass, when Sorgi threw to Devin Aromashodu, who is now on the Bears and a Super Bowl XLI champion, who failed to make the catch because of the swarming defenders.

Sorgi has been a great player with the Colts. Even though he was horrible in the pre-season when he had no touchdowns and one interception, he is better in the regular season.

Sorgi proves himself that he can stay with the Colts because he shows Lucas Oil Stadium that he is consistent in the last game of the season. Right now, it looks like Sorgi might lose his job. According to Bryan Brackney at The Colts Corner, he said that the Colts were the only scouts to look at Nate Davis’s Pro Day.

What does that mean? The Colts are looking for a new backup and they also checked out Mark Sanchez, according to the Bryan Brackney article. I think Jim Sorgi will still stay.

He was mostly the star of the 23-0 win against the Titans. He completed 73 percent of his passses, 22-for-30, and threw for 178 yards. His average passing yards a play was almost six (5.9). He also had a 87.9 quarterback rating.

Sorgi didn’t run that good though. He had five carries for only eight yards. He had close to two yards per carry average (1.6). Sorgi can still be a good backup, but he is kind of horrible. Just saying: In Madden 2006, Jim Sorgi had a 65 overall rating along with some guy named Travis Brown.

Can Sorgi be a good backup? Can he be a potential starter with some team? The Vikings could take a shot but it might be a little too risky. At 28 years old, he still has a lot to learn. He is improving. Why not? I would love to stay with the Colts, just getting payed to do nothing while Manning is at work. Heck, that would be a good life.

So now you know them Colts’ quarterbacks. One is consistent, one is not as much. This is a good one-two punch of quarterbacks. What is going to happen? Will the Colts get Nate Davis? Yeah, probably. No chance they get Sanchez. Davis looks to be a great backup for the Colts.

We’ll see sometime soon. So this wraps up part one. Stay tuned for part two of running backs and fullbacks. That looks to be good. This is Breaking Down the Colts. Thank you for reading and you have a nice day.

Bio: Jeff Smith

<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";
